Bhut Jolokia or Ghost Pepper of Assam ভুত জলকীয়া


Bhut Jolokia of Assam, भूत जलकीया also known as the ghost pepper. It is a chili pepper native to the northeastern state of Assam in India. It gained widespread attention for being one of the hottest chili peppers in the world.

Guinness World Records in 2007

Guinness World Records recognized the Bhut Jolokia pepper as the hottest pepper in the world in 2007. It has a Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) rating of over 1 million.
However, other peppers like the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion and the Carolina Reaper later surpassed its record.

The Bhut Jolokia pepper has a unique flavor, characterized by its intense heat and fruity undertones. It is often used in Assamese cuisine. It has medicinal value also.
