The Assam State Museum is a prominent museum located in Guwahati. Situated in the heart of Guwahati near Dighalipukhuri, the museum came into existence in 1940.
The Kamrupa Anusandhana Samiti which was the pioneer organization in the field of historical and antiquarian studies of Assam had established the Assam State Museum.
The Governor of Assam, Sir Robert Neil Reid, formally inaugurated the museum. The museum aims to preserve, research, and display the cultural and historical heritage of Assam and the Northeastern region of India.
