Auniati Satra is a famous Vaishnavite monastery located in North Guwahati. It was established in 19th century and is one of the most revered satras of the Vaishnavite culture in Assam. The satra has a rich history and has played a significant role in preserving and promoting the art, culture, and traditions of Assam. During his time, Sankardeva established numerous ‘Satras’ across Assam, Kamrupa, and Coochbihar, becoming the religious ‘headquarters of Vaishnava teachers’. In the 16th century under the leadership of Sankarveda and his favorite disciple Madhavadeva gained a wonderful movement Neo-vaishnavite in Assam. 

In the greater Assam today, there are 715 Satras, founded either by the Guru himself or his disciples.
