Year of Establishment 1963.

Course offered:

1. Five years Integrated B.Sc & M.Sc in Zoology.

Four Year Under Graduate Program [FYUGP] -B.Sc Major/Honours course with research and 5th-year Integrated one-year M.Sc Course. Course Duration is a maximum of 5 years but have the option to exit from the program as per NEP-2020 Rules.

2. Two Year Master Degree, MSc in Zoology.

The Intake seat capacity is 40: The course Duration is 2 years, 4 semesters.

3. Two Year Master Degree, MSc in Wildlife Science.

The Intake seat capacity is 20: The course Duration is 2 years, 4 semesters.

4. Research Ph.D. Program

About the Department

The Department of Zoology was established in 1963 and is the pioneer department of Zoological studies in the entire northeastern region of India. Department has developed wholly to achieve excellence in the field of Aquaculture & Biodiversity through biotechnological tools and techniques.

It has a separate campus in the name of Aquaculture & Biodiversity Centre in the heart of the university campus with 16 acres of land along with facilities like all types of Fish Pond, Fish Hatcheries, and Ornamental Fish farming units.
