An Assamese Poem
Translation of the অসমীয়া কবিতা
Fear concentrated,
I can’t find your address.
The mirror of the mind is dirty,
It is covered with thick fog.
I ask again and again,
I’ve asked a lot of questions,
Did you do something wrong,
With the sun yesterday evening.
Has anyone hidden you,
The punishment for this is supreme.
There is a wave of anxiety and emotion,
It is a tremendous flow of blood in the veins,
There is a strong nervous and muscular panic.
As the moments pass ,
My heart beats so much.
I bow to the Lord
Give me your address.
Summary of the Assamese Poem
The poem delves into the speaker’s intense emotional state as they seek something vital, symbolized by an address they cannot find. It reflects their growing fear, anxiety, and frustration at being unable to locate what they’re searching for. The comparison of the mind to a dirty mirror covered in fog signifies their lack of clarity and inability to perceive what they seek.
Through questioning and contemplation, they express suspicion and unease about the events of the previous evening, wondering if something went wrong. The emotions intensify, portraying a sense of panic and heightened physical sensations like a rush of blood and increased heartbeat.
Ultimately, the poem concludes with the speaker’s plea for guidance or revelation, seeking divine intervention to uncover the elusive address, which remains an enigmatic and crucial element in their life.
